Sahyer’s Law Firm Joins Winter Wishes Initiative to Support Englewood High School Students
The holiday season brings out the best in communities, and this year Sahyer’s Law Firm LLC was proud to be part of something meaningful through the Winter Wishes initiative.
Winter Wishes is a program run by Communities in Schools, a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping students on track for graduation and helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom. The program gives businesses, organizations, and individuals the chance to sponsor students at local schools by fulfilling their holiday wish lists, which often include essentials like clothing, shoes, and gift cards.
Here’s how it works: participating schools select students who could use a little extra support during the holidays and share their wish lists with sponsors. The items requested are practical and personal, things like a warm coat, new sneakers, or a gift card to help with everyday needs. The school also organized a hygiene drive this year, so Sahyer’s Law Firm collected a bin of hygiene products to donate alongside the gifts.
This past year, the firm sponsored three students at Englewood High School and wanted to make the experience personal rather than just dropping off packages. The team catered lunch for both staff and the students so everyone could sit down together, share a meal, and actually connect. It was a chance to hand-deliver the gifts face to face, but more than that, it was an opportunity to talk with the kids about their lives, hear about their interests, and learn about their goals for the future.
Those conversations made the whole experience worthwhile. Getting to know these young people and understanding what they’re working toward added a level of meaning that goes far beyond simply checking a box for holiday giving.
The event was a hit, and Sahyer’s Law Firm plans to make it an annual tradition. There’s something special about combining community support with real human connection, and the Winter Wishes program makes that easy to do. For any business looking to give back during the holidays, this is a program worth exploring.
